AWGADI which was has been built through online has been prominent on social media and the recent completion of the summit has motivated further the body while igniting the attention of many; with more country widows involvement. The body is functional and with the exclusion of widows in policy and donors requires the intern support of technical professionals to help build up the body AWGADI across the following.

AWGaDi Volunteer Technical Support intern will be responsible for;

Project Management Specialist

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute projects, ensuring timely delivery, optimal resource allocation, and effective collaboration.
  • Develop project plans, budgets, and resource allocation plans to ensure successful project implementation.
  • Monitor progress, identify risks, and implement solutions to ensure project goals are met.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop and implement project management strategies.
  • Provide training and support on project management to staff and volunteers.
 

Digital Solutions Specialist (ICT Support)

  • Design, implement, and maintain technology solutions to enhance AWGADI’s programs and operations, including digital platforms, software, and hardware.
  • Maintain AWGADI’s website, social media presence, and other digital channels to ensure effective communication and engagement.
  • Ensure data security, backup, and recovery systems are in place to protect sensitive information.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop and implement technology strategies that align with AWGADI’s mission and goals.
  • Provide technical support and training to staff and volunteers as needed.
 
Communications Specialist
  • Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies to amplify AWGADI’s impact and mission, including social media, newsletters, press releases, and public statements.
  • Create engaging content for various channels, including social media, newsletters, and press releases, to showcase AWGADI’s work and success stories.
  • Foster media relations, draft public statements, and manage crisis communications to maintain a positive public image.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop key messages, branding, and visual identity.
  • Provide writing, editing, and proofreading support for AWGADI materials.
 
 
 Development and Partnerships Officer (Fundraising Support)
  • Research and identify potential funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, and individual donations, to support AWGADI’s programs and operations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and partners to secure funding and resources.
  • Develop and submit grant proposals, reports, and fundraising materials, including budgets and financial reports.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop fundraising strategies and events.
  • Provide stewardship and recognition to donors and supporters.

Legal Advisor

  • Review and draft legal documents, policies, and procedures to protect AWGADI’s interests.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop and implement legal strategies.
  • Provide expert legal guidance on contracts, agreements, compliance, and governance to ensure the legality of AWGADI’s operations.
  • Represent AWGADI in legal proceedings, negotiations, and disputes, as needed.
  • Provide training and support on legal matters to staff and volunteers.

Knowledge goals include:

  • Deepen understanding and support on the women’s empowerment framework; widows challenges.
  • Familiarize with women’s rights, especially African widows
  • Knowledge of UN/UN Women, African Union, policy-making, and AWGaDi network, mission, work methods, and thematic area.
  • Deepening Understanding of project management and support; communications principles and practices, and capacity development.

Qualifications/Skills Education

A First-level University degree combined with at least 1 year experience in related field; (Master’s degree student on practical experience or research) Graduate/ University studies in any of the following disciplines:

  • Economics
  • International relation
  • Gender studies
  • Gender development
  • Project management
  • Women studies
  • International development, or other relevant subjects.

Experience

  • 1 years of experience in research, coordination support and public relations; and implementation of development projects / programmed.
  • Experience and knowledge of gender/women/widows issues.
  • Experience in management and data analysis.
  • Communication and public relations experience.

Language:

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English are required.
  • Working knowledge of another language is an advantage, especially French, Swahil and Portuguese.

Remuneration:
